What kind of foods that I could buy at the Grocery store are good for bait?
I'm going to the beach and might do a little fishing. I don't want to bother with buying legit bait because I don't have time. I'll be fishing in Galveston on the Texas Gulf coast and frankly I just want to catch anything. What works best? I'm thinking hot dogs or shrimp?
Your best best is fresh shrimp cut into small pieces on a #8 gold treble hook with a split shot 6 inches above hook and a bobber 2 feet above split shot if water is very clear raise bobber you will catch many edible fish and maybe some deeelishious Pompano use 8 Pound test with a 15 pound 12 inch leader and do not try and cast too far its not necessary. Be sure and see the carvings made out of tree's the last hurricane knocked down they are all over Galveston town get a map of where they are! Have fun! Watch out for sting rays, drag your feet in sand do not step...or you may be sorry....
