What birds are legal to hunt without license or tag?
I live in north carolina and i need to know what birds i can shoot. I have A bb gun (Daisy red ryder).
European Starlings and house sparrows, both are NOT native to the U.S.A. and are considered a pest species of bird. Be careful with the sparrows though. We have native sparrows which are protected, and would be against the law to kill. You can only kill the brown sparrows which were introduced from England.

If you have a farmer in your local area, especially farmers with nut tree orchards, you might actually get paid for killing pest birds, and squirrels on their farm. Probably need a permit to kill the squirrels.
