do i need to put a mono leader onto the end of the braid line? What knot do i use?

What size leader and how long do I use with 3.6kg/8lb braid?

If your using 8 pound braid, im assuming thats for trout or other panfish. As i have 10 lb braid for trout and bay fishing. If your going for trout i would recommend using a 10 yards top shot of 6 pound mono tied together with a uni to uni knot (this will act as a shock absorber, needed for trout due to their soft mouth). Then tie on a swivel to the 6# using the uni knot and about 3 feet of 3# or 4# mono with a palomar knot (this will increase your bites because of lower line visibility). If you are using lures you should tie on a snap swivel to the end of your leader so you can change lures without cutting line a retying everytime. If you are fishing bays, i would use a 3 foot leader of 8# mono tied on with a swivel. Braided line that size really has no uses other than for trout. Since the line is visible no matter how thin it is you might as well get a stronger line. I use my 10 # braid for fishing off piers and for trout. Other than that i will use 30# braid or higher.
