Is my fishing rod too heavy?
Hello guys I just had a offshore trip last saturday and what i have noticed its that after a long period of time I feel like my BICEPT AND MY WHOLE ARM IS TORNED!!! this happened last time I went offshore. I am thinking that my rod is too heavy but the rod alone is pretty light. My rod is the G loomis prelagic series spinning* and I have a Daiwa Black/Gold series reel 20lbs wt line. I want to know if I should just get a new lighter weight rod because there's really no need to use a Buff rod to fish Bass/ cod or rockfish or i should just get a new reel =) I would be happy if you guys give me links for the gears I should get, THANK YOU!
There is nothing wrong with your setup . The soreness is caused by using your muscles on occasion and giving them a good workout. If you fished often your muscles would adapt and you would no longer become so sore after a fishing trip. I often have the same problem after hunting all fall and winter and then making my first all day fishing trip in the spring. But after a few days I become accustomed to it and it will not happen again until the next first trip of the year.
