Is there any way to derive digital audio from the LCD TV which gets HDMI input from the DVD player?
I guess there are no LCD TVs which have digital audio out. Are there any other method to derive digital audio from the LCD TV so that I can hook it up to my 5.1 channel AV receiver? LCD TV speakers really suck. Some LCD TVs have variable audio out (RCA jack). This will be of some help, but again this is analog and hence low quality audio.
Lots of LCD TVs have a digital audio output, but unfortunately it only provides 5.1 surround sound when the sound is coming from the TV's internal tuner.
When the TV is set to any other input such as the HDMI coming from a DVD player, the audio that the TV passes through to its digital audio output is just digital stereo, not 5.1 surround, even though the audio coming in from the HDMI input is 5.1 surround.
For 5.1 digital surround sound when using your DVD player, connect the digital audio output on the DVD player directly to a 5.1 home theater receiver/amplifier.
