Need to seperate dry and wet ingredients when baking a cake??
My m-i-l gave me a cake recipe.
chocolate
eggs
oil
sugar
salt
flour
almond powder
Do I have to mix dry ingredients seperate from wet ingredients or can I mix it all together and hope for the best? Any advice would be appreciated.
I have the amount of ingredients needed but nothing else.
it sounds like you are making a whisked cake. Whisk the eggs and sugar together. this will take a while. when the mix starts to leave a trail when the mix is lifted its done. I normally spell out cat in the trial and if i still see the c at the end it is done. Next fold in the flour and salt carefully as to not release all the air you just added. Use a blunt knife for this. Next add the almond powder in the same way and add the chocolate add the end using the same method again. If the chocolate has been melted wait for it to cool a little before mixing it or it will make your mix lose air and it will not rise when being baked as well. As for the oil i am guessing that is to grease the cake tin cause i have never used oil in a cake before and it was all i cooked during my a level coursework.
